My name is Olga. I live in Kyiv with my husband, two daughters and my son. Until 24 February 2022, our lives were peaceful - we had stable jobs and our children attended school. Everything changed in an instant. On 10 March 2022, we left our home, taking a risk despite the dangerous conditions on the roads.
As we moved from place to place, we did not notice how much our health was deteriorating. My daughters were diagnosed with severe post‑traumatic stress disorder, I developed depression, and my husband struggled with high blood pressure. After some time, we managed to regain a little stability, but tragically, my husband’s son passed away at the age of 21 from a heart attack.
To keep myself from falling into despair, I began looking for meaningful activities that could help others. This is how I became involved in a volunteer community, while my husband joined the armed forces. We did not return home - Bucha was no longer suitable for living. We moved into the apartment of friends who had left the country.
The Keller Foundation supported us during the most difficult moment. We are deeply grateful for this help. We still need funds for my treatment and my daughter’s, I must cover the children’s education, and in the future, I hope to renovate our home.
